CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) OF THE POLITICAL STUDIES ASSOCIATION (PSA), UK

Salary on application

Full Time

The Trustees of the Political Studies Association UK (PSA) are seeking to appoint an outstanding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to build on our heritage as the second largest learned society in the world dedicated to the study of politics.

Since its creation in 1950 we have always advocated a set of common principles that promote the intellectual, social and public value of the study of politics. As a result, British expertise on politics is recognised around the world for its scholarly quality, its openness and – most of all – for its ability to bridge both ‘politics in theory’ and ‘politics in practice’.

We’re about to embark on an exciting ten-year strategy that builds upon this success. The focus of our ambition is to become the leading learned society within the social sciences with an international reputation for supporting our members and being at the forefront of developments in political science. Reporting to the Chair of the Executive Committee and accountable to the Board of Trustees whose role is to determine our strategic direction, we’re looking for a dynamic individual to implement their vision.

The successful candidate will be a perceptive, innovative leader, with significant experience of developing productive relationships with trustees and volunteers at all levels. You’ll have strong financial acumen, exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead a competent and experienced team of staff.

There is outward-focused work to be done to increase membership and engage similar organisations and sponsors, so your experience will demonstrate how you’ve developed successful partnerships and commercial relationships with a broad range of players.

But you won’t be alone. Core to the success of the PSA is a knowledgeable team of five staff and an engaged and supportive board of trustees.
