Labour Movements Specialist Group
Welcome to the website of the Labour Movements Group, a specialist group of the Political Studies Association.
The aim of the group is to promote the study of labour movements in Britain and elsewhere. We use the term labour movement in a broad sense to embrace the study of political parties, trade unions and other organizations that have an impact on the lives of working people.
In pursuit of that aim we organize workshops several times each year; submit panel proposals to the annual meeting of the PSA; and maintain a distribution list through which we circulate information about relevant events and publications.
Our most recent workshop, held in London, May 2011, focused on the Radical Left in Western Europe and the programme is shown below:
- Radical Left Parties in Contemporary Europe, Luke March (University of Edinburgh)
- The Southern European Far Left , Myrto Tsakatika (University of Glasgow)
- The Radical Left in Germany: Die Linke, Dan Hough (University of Sussex)
Further events are being planned for late 2011 and 2012.
Membership of the group and attendance at its events is free to those who belong to the PSA. Non-members of the PSA are welcome to attend group events on payment of a small charge.
If you would like to be added to the group membership list; would like further details of the group and its activities; or would like to circulate information to group members please contact the group convener, Prof John Kelly j.kelly@bbk.ac.uk
