Nomination Process:

Nominations for the Mackenzie Prize can be made by: 

• Heads of Department (or equivalent senior colleagues or line manager) 
• Departments with fewer than 20 permanent academic staff may nominate one book. Departments with more than 20 permanent academic staff can nominate up to two books. Departments submitting more than one nomination are encouraged to submit a diverse shortlist. 
• Publishers may nominate up to three books and are encouraged to submit a diverse shortlist. 
• Individual PSA Specialist Groups may nominate one book. Nominees must be both PSA members and members of the Specialist Group. 
• Self-Nominations must be supported by three additional PSA members, whose names and contact details must be provided on the nomination form. 
• Evidence of publication date between 1st January and 31st December in the preceeding year must be provided. 
• A supporting statement (of no more than one side of A4) must be included with the digital nomination form, providing the rationale for why the nominator considers this the best book published in political science. This should include a summary of the originality and contribution of the book, its actual or potential impact on the field, and the standard of scholarship it exhibits
