Advocacy
One of our key roles & strategic priorities is to advocate for our members and Political Studies as a whole. Find out more about current affairs and our latest activities here.

Since 1950, the objectives of our Association have been ‘to promote the development of political studies and to encourage education and the advancement of learning in the art and science of government and in other branches of the political sciences’.

As the leading learned society in our field in the UK, we seek to advocate for Political Studies and represent those who study, teach, research and practice politics and international relations. We do this by:

  • Building relationships with and supporting academic departments/schools in Higher Education across the UK
  • Responding to government and other consultations on behalf of our members
  • Being active in the wider stakeholder community and building alliances at home and internationally; especially with parliaments and policy makers, other learned societies, the British Academy and the Academy of Social Sciences
  • Providing oversight and guidance in regulatory matters, curriculum matters and professional standards.
