Canadian student travels to Sheffield

By Paul Thomas, University of Toronto, Canada who travelled to Sheffield to participate in the 2015 PSA Annual Conference.

I am very grateful to have been the 2015 participant in the graduate student exchange between the Political Studies Association and the Canadian Political Science Association. Presenting at the PSA’s 65th Annual Conference in Sheffield provided me with a tremendous opportunity to receive feedback on my research, and to network with other scholars who study the British Parliament. Those I met not only introduced me to a range of literature that I had not yet encountered, but also suggested that we collaborate on further research in the future.

I was also very impressed by the quality of the conference program, and especially by the keynote speakers and panels. The organizers did a fantastic job making the Conference relevant to the public by linking serious academic research with the issues and questions that were being debated in the run up to the 2015 British General Election.
