Recent developments in Turkey's domestic politics have indicated a clear political shift that has left the international community and Western states questioning Turkey’s allegiances, intentions and motives. For its part, Turkey finds itself in a precarious situation between the Western values and institutions and the domestic factors that led to a state of emergency. In this panel, we shall focus on such domestic issues that keeps both politicians and political scientist busy. This include but not limited to a discourse of populism, a nostaligia for the past, a rising discourse of anti-migration, and a newly emerging civil-military relations. Doç.Dr. Göker Önen (Gelişim Üniversitesi) "Discussing the Past, Present and Future of Turkish Military Culture."; (4) Doç.Dr. Şakir Dinçşahin (Hasan Kalyoncu Üniversitesi) "Discourses of Inclusion and Exclusion Towards Syrian Refugees in Turkey". The discussant will be Ayla Gol from Aberystwyth University.
