The last few years have seen significant change in Northern Ireland’s electoral landscape and its politics have been marked by crisis and instability.  But in other respects, Northern Ireland’s politics have been problematically static.  This panel will examine debates about the the current state of politics in Northern Ireland in relation to party realignment, women’s political representation and the instability of the political institutions. In addition to the focus on contemporary issues in Northernn Ireland the panel also has an island-wide focus anad will examine public opinion in Ireland, both North and South, towards the EU post the 2007 economic crash and the Brexit vote.
