This page provides information for travelling around Oxford during the conference. This includes location details for key venues, how to travel to the registration from key transport routes, and other helpful information.
During the conference there will be three main buildings which all panel sessions will be held; Examination Schools, Wadham College, and Saint Catherine’s College. We will be holding our drinks reception and prize giving ceremony in the Oxford Town hall on Tuesday 31 March.
The information map we have made for the conference will give an idea of how the delegates will travel between each venue and to key transport. We would like to highlight:
- Registration & Conference hub is loacted within the Examination Schools. All delegates must pick up their badge before heading to their sessions.
- The walk between venues is about 10 minutes.
- Conference Ambassadors will be available in all venues to help guide you to the rooms within all venue locations.
Though Oxford is not a large city, because of its historical architecture and winding streets, it can be somewhat difficult to navigate. In addition, the city centre is ‘cut off’ from the rest of the city, making travel between areas confusing. The key locations you will likely be travelling from have been listed below, alongside the venues location and how to best find them.

Where are the venues?
Examination Schools
The Examination Schools are a Grade II listed building, located right off Oxford High Street (75-81 High Street, Oxford, OX1 4BG). Known for its impressive Victorian architecture, it is home to the majority of the largest spaces for the PSA26 conference.
Because of their central location, the Exam Schools are easily accessible by foot, and additionally are served by multiple bus-stops which run services between the City Centre/Station and surrounding towns.
Saint Catherine's College
St Catherine’s College is a striking modernist college of the University of Oxford, located on (Manor Road, Oxford, OX1 3UJ), just east of the city centre. Set within spacious gardens beside the River Cherwell, the College is known for its distinctive Grade I listed architecture and open, light-filled surroundings.
Thanks to its central location, St Catherine’s is easily reached on foot from central Oxford. It is also well served by nearby bus routes connecting the City Centre and Oxford Station, with frequent rail and coach services to London and surrounding towns.
Wadham College
Wadham College is a historic constituent college of the University of Oxford, located on (Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PN), at the heart of the city. Founded in 1610, the College is known for its striking Jacobean architecture, beautiful quadrangles, and gardens that back onto the University Parks.
Centrally located, just off Broad Street, Wadham is easily accessible on foot from across Oxford. It is also well served by nearby bus stops linking the City Centre and Oxford Station, particularly from George Street and Saint Giles, with frequent rail and coach services connecting Oxford to London and surrounding towns.
Taxi and Bus information from rail/coach stations
There are (almost) always taxis in a rank outside Oxford Station. However, given that it is likely to be quite busy when the conference commences, it might be best to pre-book a taxi using one of Oxfords reputable taxi firms. The most commonly used are Royal cars (01865 777333), who can be booked online or over the phone. Other options include 001 Taxis (01865 537383) or Go Green Taxis (01865 922 222). Uber is available in Oxford but is currently quite unreliable.
Multiple buses can be used to take you from the Train Station to the Hub (Examination Schools), namely the 3/3A (Oxford Bus Company), 5 (Oxford Bus Company), or the 400 (Park & Ride). The stops at the railway station these buses operate from are stops R2 and R6, running every 10 minutes. The stops you need to disembark at for the exam schools are either High Street or Queens lane (K2). Gloucester Green is located just off George Street, right on the edge of central Oxford. Though it is a bus terminal, the outgoing services do not go directly into the part of the city that the conference is taking place in. For that reason, it is likely that you will be better off walking; if you have mobility issues and will find this difficult, see across for potential taxis, or if necessary contact us and let us know.
