UBC Vancouver is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam people. The land it is situated on has always been a place of learning for the Musqueam, who for millennia have passed on their culture, history, and traditions from one generation to the next on this site. The Musqueam people’s vision of self-government emphasizes intergenerational wellbeing, sustainability, and a vibrant community grounded in respect, inclusion, and shared responsibility. For political scientists, these commitments offer an important opportunity for reflection. They remind us that governance is not solely the domain of the state, that political communities carry responsibilities across generations, and that political knowledge is rooted in particular histories, relationships, and places. At this year’s CPSA conference, we can ask how these insights might challenge and expand the ways we understand politics, governance, sovereignty, and political community.
The Programme Committee of the 2027 CPSA Annual Conference invites scholars to present ongoing research not only on the formidable challenges democracy seems to face but also on the possibilities for democratic renewal in response to those challenges. We also invite submissions in all other areas of political science, spanning one or more of our 16 disciplinary sections and competitions (3MT and Posters). CPSA has always embraced a global outlook, and we encourage researchers from all countries and backgrounds to take part by submitting their work.
They welcome submissions both for individual papers and pre-organized sessions (i.e., panels, roundtables and Author Meets Critics).
