Corruption, governance, and political ethics: Mapping research in the UK

Issues of corruption and political misconduct have – driven partly by growing concerns among policy makers and citizens – found their way onto the research agendas of various academic disciplines, such as political science, international relations, economics, law, geography, anthropology, sociology, and history. However, despite this surge in academic interest, there is no interdisciplinary platform for UK-based researchers to exchange knowledge or explore opportunities for collaborative projects.

This workshop invites researchers from different disciplines to present their current research on corruption and related issues (such as political misconduct, political ethics, and governance), with the aim of producing an up-to-date “map” of research activity in the UK. The mid-term goal is to then use this map as a foundation from which to launch a Political Studies Association Specialist Group on “Corruption and Anti-corruption” (working title), which would subsequently serve as a permanent hub for knowledge exchange and inter-disciplinary collaboration.
