Join the PSA Women and Politics Specialist Group at the PSA annual conference for an event to celebrate Karen Celis and Sarah Childs’ book ‘Feminist Democratic Representation’, which has been shortlisted for the PSA Mackenzie book prize 2022.
This book:

Remakes the case for and offers an intersectional update of womens group representation in electoral politics;

Advances feminist democratic design thinking, principles, and practices for parliaments and legislatures, as well as turning political institutions into “womens Houses”;
-
Advances second generation feminist design, introduces a new type of representatives (the affected representatives of women), and provides two augmentations to parliamentary processes (group advocacy and account giving); and
-
Incentivizes elected political representatives to “know more” and “care more” about women.

We are delighted to announce that the event will take place on the first day of the PSA annual conference (11th April). There will be drinks on arrival, Sarah and Karen will present and then there will be an opportunity for Q&A and general discussion.

Please note: The event is scheduled on the PSA conference programme to start at 16:30 but will be preceeded by the Women in Politics SG AGM. The event itself will begin at 16:45 and will finish at 18:15.
