In this talk Patrick will discuss his experiences of linking a large research project on Victorian election violence to creating practical learning materials for pupils to understand the roles of elections in our society and how the findings of their project could help shape and inform pupils learning about politics. He will discuss the lessons learnt in engaging with the Victorian Village attraction named Beamish near Durham and the challenges that are faced with engaging with both schools and other external organisations to create interactive learning experiences that aim to excite pupils about the study of politics and understand more about the importance of engagement.
