We are thrilled to be welcoming (back) our ECN members for the new academic year. This is a FREE welcome event organised and hosted by the Political Studies Association’s Early Career Network. It is free and open to all ECN Members. Come along to hear all about our plans for the upcoming months and hear from fantastic guest speakers.

We are pleased to welcome our distinguished speakers for a friendly, informal panel and discussion on life as an early career researcher and/or doctoral student. We all know being a PhD/ECR can be challenging and sometimes lonely. But you are not alone! Come and start the academic year with the PSA ECN to discuss all things PhD and ECR in a space driven by solidarity, support, and community.

Have you just started your PhD? Or perhaps you’re in the writing up stages? Either way, this event is for you! At this ‘Bridging the Gap’ event, we will be discussing careers inside and outside of higher education as well as a number of events and opportunities available to PhD and early career researchers throughout the academic year.

Some of the topics we’ll be exploring include but are not limited to:

• Strategies for dealing with feelings of isolation whilst doing your PhD
• Potential career paths post-PhD
• Tips for building community and strong networks around you
• Information about funding opportunities for early career researchers and PhDs
• Advice on how to make the most of your time as a doctoral researcher

There will be an opportunity to ask specific questions too – so, bring your thoughts along!
