The PSA Parliaments Annual Conference will take place on 2-3 November 2023.

The Specialist Group are doing things slightly differently this year! As normal, the conference will be held on the Friday (3rd November) and a drinks reception will be held on the Thursday evening (2nd November). However, unlike previous years, they will also be holding a working papers workshop for early career researchers (ECRs) during Thursday daytime.

The conference aims to highlight the best research on legislatures, bringing into sharp focus the roles and functions parliaments and parliamentarians play – whether effectively or otherwise – in the political process and society more broadly. It is the most important event of the year for the PSA Parliaments Group. The conference includes not only panels but also the formal presentation of the winner of the Group’s undergraduate essay competition, and provides opportunities for academics and practitioners in the field of parliamentary studies to meet and discuss their work and interests.

The conference and workshop are free to attend (including lunch and refreshments), although attendees will have to cover travel and accommodation costs.

Call for Papers

Conference 

Participants are asked to submit a 150-word abstract which, if accepted, should be turned into a 1,500-word blog post to be published after the conference on the PSA Parliaments Group website.

Abstracts must be submited by 15 September 2023.
