Publications in academic journals are often considered the gold standard for sharing your research outputs and expertise. But this is not the only way to make a name for yourself in the field. Engaging with the media, writing for academic blogs, or building a presence on social media can all help in disseminating your findings and general expertise. In fact, these can also be great platforms to further promote your journal publications.

We are delighted to bring together three generations of ECN Communications Officers for a roundtable discussion on how to effectively communicate and disseminate your research. In this session, you will hear from Dr Jessica Smith (University of Southampton), Dr Liam McLoughlin (University of Liverpool), and Caroline Leicht (University of Southampton) who all bring different perspectives and types of media expertise to the table.

• General early career advice and commiserations

This session will be chaired by our current ECN President Taylor Borowetz (SOAS) and there will be plenty of time for your specific questions on media engagement, academic blogs, and social media communication as well.

The event will be held online via Zoom and is free and open to all ECN members, though registration via the Eventbrite page is required.
