The Political Studies Association was established in 1950 and exists to develop and promote the study and public understanding of politics. In recent years the PSA has strived to establish itself as the leading learned society in the UK, promoting a diverse understanding of the study of politics, and a diverse and equitable profession.

Much has been achieved under the current Chair Professor Angelia Wilson and Vice-Chair Professor Feargal Cochrane whose terms come to an end in 2020. The Trustees are now keen to receive applications from senior colleagues within the discipline who are willing to lead the PSA forward as Chair or Vice-Chair. Both positions will run for three years from 1 June 2020.  We would particularly welcome joint applications for these roles but would also encourage individual applications.

How to Apply

All applicants will be expected to submit an application consisting of the following documents:

1. a brief letter of application that includes a clear indication of their approach to delivering and building upon the PSA Strategic Plan and Equality and Diversity Strategy;
2. a supporting statement in which they highlight their strategic vision for the PSA and their approach to the leadership of a learned society; and how they will work with a Vice/ Chair in an effective partnership;
3. a full CV;
4. the names of two referees who are PSA members; and
5. a statement of institutional support (Head of Department/School) for the application.
