The PSA held its annual conference in Cardiff 26-28 March. There were over 230 panels, a keynote speech at the conference dinner from Gary Younge, and a Q&A session with REF sub-panel chair Charlie Jeffery in the Welsh capital.

Also at our conference, Charlie Jeffery chair of the sub-panel for Politics and International Studies in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework assessment exercise gave a keynote speech and answered questions. You can download his slides here, and watch the event below. 

Professor Sanjay Seth, Goldsmiths delivered a plenary keynote entitled “The (shifting) ground beneath our feef: Rethinking the conceptual underpinnings of the discipline“. The transcript of which can be downloaded by clicking on the title. 

The PSA held its annual assembly on 25 March, the second day of the annual conference, where attendees heard from the chair, vice-chair, membership secretary and CEO about the association’s many achievements over the previous year and our plans and priorities for the coming year. These include the new office which we hope to have moved into by the summer, the development of the website, the membership survey and our review of the specialist groups.

The assembly was also an opportunity for members to ask questions and to thank the PSA staff for all their hard work over the year and to approve the annual report and accounts which were presented by the PSA’s interim treasurer Professor Yvonne Galligan.
