FAC to hold public evidence session on FCOs human rights work

On Tuesday 13 May at 2.30pm in Committee Room 15, the Foreign Affairs Committee will be taking evidence on the FCO’s human rights work in 2013.

This is the first evidence session for the Committee’s inquiry into the FCO’s human rights work in 2013. The terms of reference were announced on 10 April 2014, the day that the FCO published its annual report on human rights: Human Rights and Democracy: The 2013 Foreign & Commonwealth Office Report. As well as general discussion on the FCO’s human rights work, the main areas for discussion are expected to be the FCO’s work in protecting freedom of religion and belief; the impact of the FCO’s ongoing Preventing Sexual Violence initiative; the FCO’s work in supporting women’s and children’s rights; and the UK’s role on the UN Human Rights Council.
