Obituary
Jerry Johnson
16 December 2016

It is with great sadness that the news of Jerry’s untimely passing has been received by his many friends and associates in the academic community. Jerry entered higher education as a mature student with a young family – and his passion for the study of politics quickly emerged. Having obtained his first degree at University College Northampton (UCN), Jerry then went on to the University of Manchester to commence a PhD (2003-04), and during this time he served on the PSA Executive as the Postgraduate Network Chair and taught at UCN.

Despite suffering a life changing stroke in 2006, Jerry made significant recovery – continuing involvement in the PSA’s Elections, Public Opinion and Parties Specialist Group and becoming a leading participant in networks for those affected by aphasia. Despite life’s challenges his generous character and great humour shone through.

On behalf of all in the PSA, we extend our deepest sympathy to Jerry’s family and close friends at this time.
