The Political Studies Association welcomes the announcement of the members of the Research Excellence Framework sub-panel 19 Politics and International Studies. We are looking forward to supporting their important work in the coming years.

 

The PSA took seriously the request by The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) that the nomination process should be open to all members, conducted under transparent procedures and driven by a commitment to equality and diversity, including a fair representation of all parts of the political science and international relations discipline. The gender balance on this panel broadly suggests that HEFCE showed commitment to equality.

 

However, at this point, the panel appears to lack representation in terms of key subfields and methodological approaches. As further appointments are considered, the PSA expects HEFCE to take into account broader disciplinary representation and that it recognises only nominating bodies that have a proven commitment towards transparency, openness, equality and diversity.
