The Business of People report launched by the Campaign for Social Science
24 February 2015

A new report, The Business of People, by the Campaign for Social Science was launched on 24 February by Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, Minister for Universities, Science and Cities. This report will form the basis of the Campaign’s advocacy on behalf of the social sciences over the course of 2015.

Launching the report, the Campaign said:

Whatever the outcome of the General Election this year, the challenges facing us in the years ahead demand the skills and imagination of well-trained social scientists. The Business of People makes powerful recommendations for how we sustain the social science base. On research, data collection, education and training in social science depend productivity, growth, civic capacity, a surer grasp of ‘what works’ in government and much more.

In these clamorous times, this report is worth our call on your attention. To thrive we must marry progress in technology and the physical and life sciences with insights from close study of our own behaviour, gender, organisations, religion, ethnicity, place and other complex workings of economy and society.
