The PSA is seeking nominees to take on certain international roles in order to further the work of the Executive Committee (EC). 

Nominees need not be current members of the EC, but must of course be members of the Association. Basic travel expenses will be covered for these roles, and nominees will be required to report to the EC on a regular basis.

1. EUROPEAN CONSORTIUM OF POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATIONS (ECPSA).
This is a relatively new organisation, meeting twice a year at various European venues (usually the ECPR general conference for one meeting). ECPSA covers hotel accommodation (usually) and PSA will cover economy flights. The organisation is particularly interested in representing European political science interests within EU academic and funding agencies, but also has wider concerns. PSAs EC must approve the nominee who will be expected to attend ECPSA EC meetings regularly (alternates are not allowed) and to take on working roles within that organisation.

2. AMERICAN POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION (APSA).
PSA is a related group of the association and thus has a guaranteed panel allocation at the Annual Meeting. The nominee will be responsible for liaising with APSA to generate an annual call which solicits full panel applications through the APSA system (and not outside it). The nominee will be responsible, in conjunction with members of the PSA EC’s Research Sub-committee, for selecting the sponsored panel or co-sponsored panels to be granted a place in the APSA program. The nominee will also be expected, though not required, to attend the Annual Meeting, where there is usually an event for overseas PSAs, and also to attend PSAs events at APSA. Economy fare and conference hotel costs (only) will be covered by PSA.

3. PSAS EXCHANGER/SISTER PSA LIAISON AND RELATIONSHIP-BUILDING
PSA has an existing network of over a dozen individually tailored relationships with PSAs around the world. The nominee will be responsible for an annual solicitation and selection (in conjunction with our academic organisers) of incoming exchangers to PSAs annual conference, and for managing the co-funding of airfares (when needed) in line with current PSA budget allocations. The nominee must attend PSAs Annual Conference in order to liaise with incoming exchangers, and will be expected to build relationships through the outgoing exchanger programme.

PSA members apply through that programme for places and support at partner PSA meetings. This work will necessitate some travel in order to negotiate new relationships and to renew or revise existing ones, within PSAs budget. It is essential that the nominee for this role should be willing to work person-to-person as these relationships work through mutual trust and respect (rather than simply and exclusively through formal, bureaucratic agreements).
