What you told us during the consultation and how this informed our plan

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to consider and share their views and suggestions with us during the strategic plan consultation period. It is heartening to see this level of care and commitment which bodes well as we look ahead to what the PSA will focus on over the coming three years and beyond.

Given below is an outline on how your feedback has shaped the strategic plan and, crucially how this plan is likely to be implemented. This highlights the range of perspectives from across the community and also where we have the opportunity to continue talking and working together to advance our discipline.

How did we conduct the consultation exercise to shape this strategic plan?

We started a dialogue with members on the challenges and opportunities ahead back in spring 2023 including sessions at PSA24 in Strathclyde and an online questionnaire. The PSA’s trustees then worked up a draft Strategic Plan 25-28 and this went out for consultation during October-December 2024. We received consultation responses from PhD students, mid-career scholars, professors as well as teachers and practitioners. We also held focus groups with the EDI Working Group, Specialist Group convenors, Teaching & Learning Network and Early Career Network committees.

We thank you for your ongoing interest in and support for the Political Studies Association.
