We are looking for early career academics from every institution around the country to join the ECN Council of Representatives. The purpose of this council will be to place a representative in each Politics department of the UK, who can act as a conduit between the PSA and early career academics in your home institutions. In doing so the ECN hopes to become more supportive and representative of, and responsive to, the needs of all early career academics in Politics. The position will not be time-consuming but the potential impact will be great. After reading the summary points below, please apply via firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, host institution, and preferred email address. In the case that more than one ECN member applies from a single department, applicants will be asked to provide a short pitch for the ECN executive to make a decision.

Encourage early career academics to join the PSA at a significantly reduced cost under our forthcoming membership deal.
Contribute to the ECN community/policy by raising awareness of issues faced by early career academics in your institution.
Identify a successor at the end of your term (Council members can choose to sit for one or two years).
Annual conference of Council to meet other representatives and contribute to ECN policy commitments.
Join a secure email thread of all representatives to share best practice between departments, gain extra-institutional support/opinion, collaborate on academic events.
Additional evidence of engagement and impact for your academic portfolio.
