Anti-Politics and Depoliticisation Specialist Group Newsletter - May 2014
2 May 2014
As we enter into our second year we would firstly like to thank you all for being involved and supporting the Anti-politics and Depoliticisation Specialist Group (APDSG). We are a growing network and now have nearly 90 members! In particular, we would like to thank those who presented at the first annual APDSG Workshop in January at Sheffield. We had over a dozen excellent presentations with a variety of truly international perspectives. Secondly, we would like to highlight some exciting funding opportunities and events we have coming up this year.
2014 AGM and PSA Conference, Manchester, 14-16 April
We have held our Second Annual General Meeting at this year’s Political Studies Association conference in Manchester at the Petersfield Suite at 12.30 on Tuesday 15 April.
APDSG has also succesfully hosted two panels at the PSA Conference, 11.00-12.30 and 13.30-15.00 on Tuesday 15 April.
ECPR Research Sessions, Essex, 8-11 July
We are delighted to announce that we recently secured a place at this year’s prestigious ECPR Research Sessions in Essex from 8-11 July. This will allow us a few days to come together and rigorously develop a grant application for an international research project on depoliticisation. While places at this event have been strictly limited, we are keen to get as many scholars involved in this international project as possible, and the scope and themes of the application will be broad and cross-disciplinary. We hence encourage contributions from all APDSG scholars to become involved in developing this exciting international funding application.
Specialist Group Workshop at the Central European University, Budapest, October
We are also very pleased to announce that APDSG has secured funding for a specialist international workshop in October this year. The workshop will include a diverse range of cross-disciplinary work, and we will be sending out a call for interest/proposals very soon.
More generally, we will shortly be welcoming new members to our leadership team. Please do contact us if you would like more information or would like to be involved as a co-convenor.
