Held at St Catherine's College, Oxford, Jan 5 2018
1. Financial report
The group has been allocated £1137.50 for 2018. Finances are now dealt with by the PSA - which is more efficient than officers running accounts in university departments. PSA procedures, though, are that we must spend money within the calendar year - some funded workshops in the past have failed to submit claims in time, so departments have lost, and our funds have gone unspent.
2. Activities during 2017
As agreed, we funded workshops, favouring those which are forward-looking, and focussed on new research agendas.
[The workshops were:
Movement Parties: explorative workshop, Queen Mary University of London, June 15 2017;
New approaches to political cohesion in democratic systems, University of Exeter, November 29 2017
Interventions: Politicising Political Thought, Oxford Brookes and Brunel Universities, May 4-5 2017]
3. Activities for 2018
We propose to continue to fund such workshops, as the best use of our resources given the schedule of several larger conferences on political thought and theory each year.
Robin Jervis (Brighton) is running a series of panels on 'Political Thought and Political Economy' at the PSA Conference Cardiff March 2018.
4. Election of Officers
EF and CB are willing to continue for one further year. Both were elected unanimously.
