‘Cinema for All’ seek academics interested in collaborating with film societies and community cinemas
Expression of Interest:
‘Cinema for All’ are looking for academics that would be interested in collaborating with film societies and community cinemas to add an educational element to film screenings of a political nature, either by giving a short talk at the start of a film, a discussion following a film, or creating resources for us to share with our members. This is an opportunity to share your work and ideas with a diverse audience and to have an impact in local communities that may otherwise not engage with academic research.
‘Cinema for All’ (previously The British Federation of Film Societies) the support and development organisation for the community cinema sector in the UK. We enable communities across the country to develop the type of film screenings they want. We believe that the role of film societies and community cinemas is not just to screen films but also to build and enhance a sense of community. We have over 550 members delivering films to their communities across the UK, from metropolitan hubs to remote Scottish Islands.
Alongside being a support system for film societies we also have a booking scheme with over 800 film titles, including a wide range of political titles such as ‘The Act of Killing’ and ‘No’. For a full list of titles please visit the website http://bffs.org.uk/services/blockbooking/. We are looking for academics who would be interested adapting their research or interest areas to engage with a community screening one of these titles. If you would be interested in working with us or have any further questions regarding what we are looking for please get in touch at the following email address: info@bffs.org.uk.
