The PSA is delighted to announce that our 74th conference will be convened by the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and held from 25-27 March 2024.

With sponsorship from our lead partners, SAGE Publishing, this event will explore whether current or alternative approaches can address the equity, economic and ecological challenges facing liberal democracy.

The convening team will be led by Dr Mark Shephard, Senior Lecturer in Politics at the university. Head of School of Government & Public Policy, Professor Anthony McGann said: “We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow to participate in a dynamic and thought-provoking conference that will critically examine the limitations and possibilities of (neo-) liberalism, and to consider whether there are new pathways and strategies for addressing the pressing issues of our time.”

The Chair of the PSA, Dr Rose Gann, added: “On behalf of the PSA, I warmly thank Anthony, Mark and the team at Strathclyde for convening this flagship conference. These important questions concern every branch of Politics and International Relations and, as the home of Adam Smith, Glasgow is a fitting venue for our community to come together to consider the viability and vitality of liberal democracy.”

The PSA will keep you up to date with developments including the call for papers in due course as well as details of other events for undergraduates and others to take part in.
