PSA Early Career Network - Call for New Committee Members
Expressions of interest invited by midday GMT, Monday 7 July!
Do you want to enhance your project management skills? Grow your professional development? Make new contacts and build your networks? If so, this opportunity could be for you!
We are looking for new members to join the Association’s active and influential Early Career Network (ECN) committee. The Committee comprises up to six people who are current PSA ECN members and who are either PhD students or early career academics - ideally a combination of both. The PSA is a UK based organisation so ECN Committee members must be able to attend and participate in UK based ECN events and meetings.
Early career academics are a large and vital part of the PSA membership and community, accounting for a large portion of the Association’s membership and stakeholders. The Committee is responsible for curating an engaging, rewarding and inclusive programme of events and activities designed to support and develop those at doctoral and early career stages. The ECN annual programme usually includes:
-
Online and in-person events held throughout the year
-
Presence and activities at the PSA’s Annual International Conference (30 March to 2 April in 2026)
-
Regular communications with ECN members via e-newsletters, website, social media and in the bi-annual PSA News magazine.
-
Provision of blogs and other content of interest for early career academic communities.
Feedback from current ECN committee members includes:
“It’s been an incredible experience being part of the ECN Committee. It’s been great to be part of such a hardworking and committed team. I’ve learned so much and gained new skills which will undoubtedly support me in my future career. I would encourage any early career academic to seize the opportunity to get involved with the ECN"
“Being part of the ECN Committee and the PSA has provided a valuable opportunity to expand my professional network. This experience has also been key to my job market journey and to securing a new position. I can’t recommend enough the chance to join the ECN committee!”
ECN Committee members are usually appointed to sit on the committee for two years and will work closely with PSA staff, trustees and other PSA groups and networks. New committee members will be involved in running events, communications, and addressing the needs of early career members. All roles are voluntary. We are keen that the committee reflects a balanced and representative range of early career academics and would actively encourage female academics to apply.
