The PSA Teaching and Learning Network has launched its third webinar series ‘Teaching Politics and IR Online: Key Issues, Skills and Pedagogy ‘. This series has been recorded and relevant information and resources can be found here.
Academics spend a good deal of time thinking and talking about the teaching and learning environment in order to deliver on the requirements of good course design. A wide range of considerations are taken into account, in order to deliver a good course that aligns well with programme and subject matter and that will engage students and stimulate their learning. This has been no less the case in respect of the necessity of switching to online learning but the fire-fighting nature of that shift has, in many cases, resulted in the student voice being heard less. What can we learn from students being taught totally or mostly online? What are we as academics doing well and what less so? In this session, Dr Maxine David will talk to four of her students from the MA International Relations programme at Leiden University about their experiences being taught online and the barriers they face to learning in a virtual rather than an in-person environment.
