From South Africa to Sheffield

Victoria Graham from Monash University in South Africa travelled to Sheffield for the 2015 PSA Annual Conference...

My first highlight of the PSA international conference (of many) was the selection of venues. For me, it was an amazing experience to present in the Council Chamber room of Sheffield Town Hall, which was drenched in history! The City Hall was equally spellbinding, as was Cutler's Hall, where the conference dinner was held. The whole academic atmosphere was enriched by these venues in a way that a modern conference venue would not have been able to achieve. My second highlight was the range of interesting and excellent quality papers that were presented, although there were so many that I did have to miss a few due to clashes. The Conference dinner was another highlight. Cutler's Hall, as I note above, is a grand and very comfortable venue for such an occasion. I particularly enjoyed John Bercow's witty and elegant address. The whole experience was so rewarding that I am already planning to attend the PSA conference in Brighton next year.
