In the wake of the present sixth mass extinction tearing holes in life’s rich tapestry and a climate crisis already rewriting spatial and temporal boundaries, the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have both increasingly called for urgent and ‘transformative’ changes across all sectors of society.

In the lead-up to this year’s ‘Twin COPs’- the UN Biodiversity conference COP15 set to take place in October and the UN climate change conference COP26 taking place in November- we are seeking blog submissions (600-800 words) critically and imaginatively exploring what the ‘transformative change’ emphasised by intergovernmental organisations, activists, indigenous peoples and other major global actors might entail. What sorts of technological, socioeconomic, cultural, political and ethical changes are needed in order to collectively stem the tides of loss and disintegration afflicting terra?
