The Early Career Network Committee is looking for a new events officer and would be delighted if you would like to nominate yourself or another member. Nominations should be sent to ecn@psa.ac.uk
Deadline for nominations: 23rd August 2020.
As many of you know, each term for ECN committee member is two years. This means, very sadly, that our time with current Events Officer, Dr. Nick Dickinson, is up. Therefore, we are looking for a new early career researcher to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in an active, dynamic, and highly collegiate committee, to contribute to an array of well-received events and activities organised by the ECN, and to shape the future of the PSA's provision for early career researchers.
As Events Officer, you’ll be responsible for organising and coordinating our well attended events, with support of the rest of the ECN committee. Be that the Annual ECN conference, ECN events at the PSA annual conference, or events such as our Bridging the Gap workshop.
The role entails attendance at ECN meetings, which take place at most once a month, either in person or via Zoom. All travel and subsistence costs incurred in relation to ECN activities can be claimed back from the PSA, and ECN committee members enjoy free attendance at the PSA Annual International Conference. More specific duties include:
  • Work with the committee to organise events that the Early Career Network puts on every year.
  • Organise events ranging from stand-alone ECN events like our annual conference, to careers and training workshops.
  • Cooperate on events collaborations with the PSA's specialist groups.
  • Help run ECN events at the main PSA Annual Conference.
  • Lead on the ECN's grant scheme for member-run events.
How to apply
Nominations are now open to ECN members and will close on Sunday 23rd August, with elections held as necessary after that. To nominate yourself or someone else (with their permission) please send an email to ecn@psa.ac.uk with a short (150 words maximum) statement on why you or the nominee are suitable for the post and wish to stand for it; and your CV
