Description

Race, Migration, and Intersectionality specialist group

The PSA Race, Migration and Intersectionality (RMI) specialist group aims to create a much-needed space for PSA members and our networks to share, promote and discuss research related to race, racism, ethnicity, ethnic minority political participation and representation, but also issues of identity, im/migration, and belonging. The group places a strong emphasis on intersectionality, foregrounding the interactions and overlaps amongst racism and racialised borders, capitalism and class dynamics, heteropatriarchy, and ableism.

The Race, Migration, and Intersectionality specialist group welcomes a broad range of academics across various career stages and promote interdisciplinary research.

The group has three aims:

  • To become a prominent, leading, and open forum for the development and promotion of interdisciplinary research on race, migration, and intersectionality - this includes being present and active at the annual PSA conference
  • Build and foster a collegial and supportive environment for students and scholars from backgrounds currently under-represented in the discipline of political studies
  • Contribute to local, national, and regional debates about immigration, integration, ethnicity, race, multiculturalism, decolonisation, and intersectionality - with an emphasis on supporting rigour, equity, and nuance in these discussions

Become a member of the Race, Migration, and Intersectionality specialist group today! It is free to join for PSA members.
