What can YouTubers teach us about creating engaging content?

The PSA's Teaching and Learning Network are pleased to be hosting their fourth series of webinars 'Teaching Politics and IR online: Key Issues, Skills and Pedagogy'.

Tuesday 29th June, (3-4pm) led by Dr Liam McLoughlin, University of London (Birkbeck)

Asymmetric learning material is getting a grade A for effort, but lower grades on what is delivered. At the crux of student’s feedback is low engagement, with part of the blame placed on the content.

Yet, there are educators who can be considered engagement experts. Indeed, the platform they operate within, YouTube, is metrified in such a way that success depends on the presenter’s ability to engage and hook audiences onto content.

In this webinar, we will discuss how educational YouTubers draft, record, and promote their content in such a way that keeps their audiences engaged, and what academia can learn from them.

PSA Members who attend three or more of the T&L Webinar series receive a certificate of participation.

Please ensure you register prior to the event. The webinar will be hosted via Zoom and joining instructions will be sent to participants the morning of the event.
