American Politics Group 47th Annual Conference

The 47th annual conference of the American Politics Group of the UK Political Studies Association will be produced by the University of Kent in the United Kingdom from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd January 2021. The conference will be wholly on-line. The cost of the conference is £0 for all attendees, whether you are giving a paper, dropping in on the odd panel, or just savouring the keynote speech on Friday evening.

We are delighted to announce that the conference’s keynote will be by Professor Sarah Churchwell of the School of Advanced Study at the University of London. A link to her biography is here, including her must-read book, Behold, America: A History of America First and the American Dream (Bloomsbury (UK) and Basic Books (US), 2018)

The APG invites proposals on any aspect of American politics. Papers or panel proposals examining contemporary US political institutions or processes, foreign policy issues or political history are welcome. The conference organisers would also welcome papers addressing comparative themes or relevant theoretical or methodological issues. Past conferences have had a strong postgraduate presence and we especially encourage young scholars to present their work. If you are interested in presenting a paper, please send a title and abstract to Dr Andrew Wroe at a.j.wroe@kent.ac.uk by 18 December 2020. Proposals should be around 150 words for single papers and 300 words for panels.
