Description

Welcome to the Queer Politics Specialist Group

Our main mission is to propel the study of sexuality and gender identity within the realm of political science. Committed to advancing this field of research, we aim to dismantle barriers and broaden perspectives on LGBTQ+ issues in political discourse. At the core of our mission is the dedication to creating a supportive community that empowers individuals within the Queer Politics academic sphere.

We strive to amplify marginalised voices, celebrate diversity, and cultivate an inclusive environment where all members feel heard and valued. Through rigorous research, open discussions, and advocacy, we aspire to contribute to the evolution of queer political thought and policy.

The Queer Politics SG seeks to address the marginalisation of queer issues in political science by mainstreaming research, improving educational offerings, and providing mentorship. By supporting queer research, the group aims to contribute to a more inclusive and comprehensive understanding of political dynamics. Improving course offerings ensures that future political scientists are well-equipped to analyse and engage with LGBTQ+ issues.

The mentoring component is crucial for fostering a supportive community and dismantling barriers that queer scholars may face in their academic journey. Overall, the Queer Politics SG strives to catalyse positive change in both academic and real-world political spheres by championing LGBTQ+ visibility, research, and inclusivity.
