When publishing Interpreting Governance, High Politics, and Public Policy: Essays commemorating Interpreting British Governance (June 2016), the books editor, Dr Nick Turnbull (University of Manchester), encountered almost a year-long delay due to serious legal complications.

A chapter entitled Interpreting Hillsborough, which examines the contested narratives surrounding the Hillsborough football stadium tragedy based on findings of the 2012 Hillsborough Independent Panel (HIP), was ruled as being in contempt of court based on fears it may influence the 2016 Inquest jury.

As editor, Dr Turnbull, was advised that he would be legally liable and so his publishers, together with the Political Studies Association funded legal advice from senior barrister, Kate Wilson at One Brick Court.
